Lufenuron is a chitin inhibitor which prevents the candida (or any parasite that uses chitin) from forming a biofilm or shell. This renders them defenceless and causes them to die. It is used mainly in the pet industry for parasite and flea control, but is completely harmless to humans as we do not have any use for chitin.
I bought Lufenuron from Sarah Vaughter, and whereas I would normally find this treatment quite frightening, and also have found some negative feedback in forums on Sarah Vaughter, I have comfort in knowing that this treatment for severe cases of candida is recommended by Dr Sarah Myhill, a respected GP with a refreshingly holistic approach.
Due to the treatment not being approved for human use, it is sent in plain packaging with no instructions, however a full treatment guide (for a pet gorilla) is found on Sarah Vaughter’s website. 9g of Lufeburon is supplied in a grip seal bag. This is roughly divided into 3 doses taken over 3 days with planty of oils/fat as it is fat soluble. The treatment time lasts approximately 2 weeks and during that time there may be quite severe Herxheimer reaction due to the die off of the candida.
Please note: It has come to my attention that lufenuron is no longer sold by Sarah Vaughter. I have had an increasing number of enquiries about obtaining lufenuron, but I am sorry, I know of no other source. Therefore I have moved over to my original approach of using diet along with Diatomaceous Earth to rid candida, I recommend the brand Holistic Valley as I know the source of the DE and trust that it is of excellent quality and food grade. Also consider that the symptoms may be caused by other parasites, and for this I recommend following Hulda Clark’s Parasite Protocol, found easily by internet search, an excellent quality parasite pack of the herbs is available at ShopHolistic.com.
DAY 1 – 8th March 2014
I took roughly a third of the powder mixed with full fat yoghurt after eating a fried breakfast (fried in lots of butter). It made the yoghurt taste a bit tangy but it was ok.
In the intructions it says that reaction is usually felt sometime after the 3rd dose. But after 4 hours I felt fatigue becoming quite bad and my muscle aches began making me feel fluey. I was doing a bit of DIY but I had to stop as I became quite weak. Just like flu really.
One particular symptom I have noted is my hands and feet becoming very achy. My feet hurt like bruises when I first stand and walk after sitting, and the joints of my hands are beginning to ache, swell and burn. As I understand a little about how toxins behave in the body, this maybe due to the toxins being produced from the die off being stored furthest from the heart until they can be expelled. My thirst has also increased, probably due to my body wanting to flush the toxins out. I also had a few tummy pains overnight, but nothing severe.
DAY 2 – 9th March 2014
Feeling a little fluey and tired. Took the second dose with my Sunday cooked dinner. No further symptoms.
DAY 3 – 10th March 2014
I took the remainder. That is the end of the loading period now. It was really nerve-wracking as I had read that die-off symptoms can occur within hours of taking the 3rd dose. The fluey symptoms just got a bit worse, but one thing was quite bad stabbing aches in stupid places like my fingers, toes, joints, just random places now and then. Also I could not focus at all and it was like I had been high on something. Like in a dreamland with my mind wondering.
DAY 4 – 11th March 2014
Fluey symptoms have increased quite a bit today, plus the dreamy feeling. I think the best way to describe the feeling is weak and pathetic, as there is no fever to justify it! I am finding it difficult to focus on anything. I also notice an increase in urination. My athlete’s foot has got quite bad, the itching is driving me mad! My IBS symptoms are increasing, I am getting wind and pains. However I was actually expecting to be worse. I looked up some other people’s experiences and some say they did not have die-off symptoms until after the first week so the worst may still be yet to come! This I am feeling now is cope-able as long as I can stay home and not do anything I don’t feel like doing, as I am also feeling overwhelmed at things that I need to do. I am so grateful that I took the time out to take this treatment as I could not have carried on everyday life like this!
DAY 5 – 12th March 2014
The fluey symptoms have subsided a little but I still feel weak. Overnight I didn’t sleep too well mainly because of my itchy athlete’s foot. I managed to do a bit of work around the house but I soon became quite exhausted! My lifelong leg aches are quite bad this evening and I have had some IBS pains today, but other than that I am a lot better than I thought I would be.
DAY 6 – 13th March 2014
The athlete’s foot has calmed down thank goodness! Still much the same otherwise, though.
DAY 7 – 14th March 2014
Much the same – nothing new to report, apart from some what looks like undigested food in my poo!
DAY 8 – 15th March 2014
I went shopping today and exhausted myself completely, but managed to get it all done quite well.
DAY 9 – 16th March 2014
I am typing this up on 18th March as Sunday (16th) I was really bad. Felt almost like full blown flu. Terrible aches and tiredness, giddiness, not thinking straight, feeling down about things.
DAY 10 – 17th March 2014
It has eased a bit but one positive thing I have noticed is that I have a little more energy than before starting taking the lufenuron, and I am not getting so worked up and feeling down about things that need doing, just taking things more as matter-of-fact. Maybe this is the fatigue starting to lift?
DAY 11 – 18th March 2014
The fluey aches and giddiness have eased quite a bit, although I went out this morning and kept getting waves of light headedness. But then I came home and cleaned the house, something I would have found exhausting even thinking about before taking the treatment, and probably would’ve become quite depressed about. I am aching this evening, just about to have a magnesium bath to ease the aches, but they are more like muscle aches than fluey aches, so maybe I just overdid it a bit. One positive thing is this morning I just got out of bed and walked normally to the toilet. Before I would have waited in bed until I was busting as I could not bring myself to get up, then when I put my feet to the floor they used to be quite painful to stand on, and I would hobble to the loo. But I just got up and walked normally – for the first time in ages! I also didn’t feel like I needed to stay in bed (usually it would take a coffee and a lot of self-persuading to get myself to get up!). Looking good then!!
DAY 12 – 19th March 2014
Still feeling good again, but no better than yesterday. I am still getting some aches and leg pain (a long-standing problem) so I think I will be taking a second treatment this weekend (which will be started on day 15).
My husband presented me with a ‘Rife’ Machine – a low-cost version which works through software on the PC. This used frequency healing by matching the frequency of any parasites or conditions that are present. So he is going to do a ‘spectrum sweep’ (which is when it heals through the entire spectrum of frequencies) on my DNA (which is done remotely through a fingernail). This is a new concept for me so I am open to it either being effective or not. On day 14 the candida should be quite defenseless so this method, if it works as it claims, could be quite an effective complimentary treatment. (more info: www.Spooky2.com)
DAY 13 – 20th March 2014
Still no improvement, although I am so much better than before treatment began, but no further improvement!
DAY 14 – 21st March 2014
We set up the spectrum sweep today, it will take 16 hours as it does 4 x 4hour sweeps. I have felt quite tired on and off and had a pain in my kidney this morning when the sweep started but it just lasted for about 15 minutes. The pain returned again after lunch and when I looked at the PC the sweep had restarted and was in the same place on the progress bar as when I had the first pain – which is very interesting. No more pain on subsequent sweeps though.
DAY 15 (Day 1 treatment 2) – 22nd March 2014
I took the first third of the second treatment today, as recommended if there was some improvement using the first treatment, but not a thorough recovery. I took it mixed into tomato ketchup with a very fatty cooked breakfast! Within an hour I began feeling light headed and foggy brained and this lasted the whole day, and I needed to sleep late afternoon. It eased a bit in the evening after my nap.
DAY 16 (Day 2 treatment 2) – 23rd March 2014
I decided to do an enema cleanse this morning, and loads of white stuff, a bit like odd shaped rice, was evacuated! That is a good sign, I am guessing! Second treatment taken with Sunday dinner and lots of roast potatoes. I had a reaction much the same as yesterday after taking the 2nd dose and I felt a little bit fluey too.
DAY 17 (Day 3 treatment 2) – 24th March 2014
Really fluey and tired today after taking the 3rd dose (which I took mixed in ketchup again but with fried eggy bread). I also had increased leg pain. I decided after the cleanse results yesterday to do another cleanse this evening, but almost to my disappointment it didn’t have the same effect. I had a strong magnesium chloride and sodium bicarbonate bath afterwards to ease the leg pain.
DAY 18 (Day 4 treatment 2) – 25th March 2014
I was up and out this morning and felt fine. But then during the afternoon the fatigue set in again but it seems more like tiredness rather than fatigue (I class fatigue as an exhausting mental attitude which prevents me from doing things or at least makes doing things a huge effort and makes me feel depressed about it). My leg pain (along the outside edges of my upper legs, mainly) is really bad and radiating up to my hips. I am hoping that this increase in leg pain (something that I have suffered with for a long time) is down to candida as it would be so amazing if it was able to be cured by this!! This evening a sharp needle-like pain has began in my right side, by my liver I suppose. But it is more close to the skin so I know it is not my liver, and my fingers and hands have started aching a lot too.
DAY 19 (Day 5 treatment 2) – 26th March 2014
My fingers and hands are still aching but I am feeling ok. Not really much else, to report. Just general tiredness rather than fatigue.
DAY 20 (Day 6 treatment 2) – 27th March 2014
I am noticing I am thinking about trivial things a lot less, however also I am finding it hard to focus again. I took probiotics again this evening. I have noticed that my athlete’s foot has completely gone, I only just realised that I haven’t had it for days!
DAY 21 (Day 7 treatment 2) – 28th March 2014
We were up and out early today as we had something we had to do. I found travelling in the car for almost 2 hours quite tiring, and then on the way home I felt absolutely exhausted. When I first went out this morning I felt like I was recovering from flu but had gone out too soon before fully recovering. Then the exhaustion in the afternoon, but I couldn’t sleep in the afternoon, which I have been needing to do more often than not, as we then had visitors.
DAY 22 (Day 8 treatment 2) – 29th March 2014
I went out and about again today visiting family and coped ok, although I was quite exhausted by the time I got home. I could’ve had a doze to recharge but I was busy as we had visitors in the evening too. I think I need to give myself a bit of quiet time as I am getting more and more tired!
DAY 23 (Day 9 treatment 2) – 30th March 2014
I had quite a spicy curry last night and I have swelled up this morning. Which is not unusual but chillies usually have the opposite to the usual effect on me and I can get constipated for days after, and I had the usual curry toilet this morning, so that is good news. After realising that my tummy swelling was ‘wonky’ (more prominent on the right side) I realised this might be my illeocecal valve sticking, as it has been known to do, so after a quick adjustment which I was taught to do by a kinesiologist, it went down. I have been having quite a bit of swelling, not related to the illeocecal valve, but it is probably as I am not really cutting anything out of my diet at the moment, as I feel that I shouldn’t lose fat when on lufenuron as it is fat soluble, and also I have been finding food a comfort for feeling so fragile. I have been thinking though that I must begin to eliminate sugar again as I have a non-candida related intolerance which was picked up by microscopy a few years ago, so it may just be this that is making me swell up.
DAY 24 (Day 10 treatment 2) – 31st March 2014
After a full weekend I feel exhausted so I allowed myself to stay in bed a little later today, and had a quiet day (or fairly quiet as can be when looking after a new puppy!) I feel like I need to do an enema again so I will do this on Wednesday I think. I have been ok today but had a wave of fluey-ness for about 2 hours during the evening.
DAY 25 (Day 11 treatment 2) – 1st April 2014
Still I am tired today, although my mental attitude to work and things to be done is getting better again, as it did on the first treatment. I am feeling quite bloated and yet really hungry quite a lot today. I haven’t had red meat for a few days so I made sure I had some for tea. I notice if I don’t eat red meat for a few days my energy and concentration and coping skills decrease quite a bit. So now this evening I am feeling quite stuffed from having some meat, although still I feel peckish, but it is probably a craving for some carbs as I have had mainly proteins today. I am trying to drink a little more water as I am feeling quite dehydrated, and yet repulsed by drinking. I quite often forget to drink, so I am trying to be strict. I think this will really help clear things out.
DAY 26 (Day 12 treatment 2) – 2nd April 2014
I woke today feeling great and have accompished a lot today. However from teatime I have felt really exhausted and achy. The aches are worse than they have ever been, my leg pain is horrible, my neck, shoulders arms and fingers really hurt and my teeth hurt, I honestly cannot think of anywhere that doesn’t hurt. I am also freezing cold. I am not sure if it is related but my ears feel really muffled too. Maybe I overdid it today. I will try to rest a bit more tomorrow, and have an early night tonight.
DAY 27 (Day 13 treatment 2) – 3rd April 2014
Not so bad today, but my tummy feels quite swollen and painful so I did an enema cleanse this morning. It was quite clean and non-smelly. It did not help my tummy though, which got progressively worse throughout the day. The fluey symptoms are still there but not so bad, but I am realy tired.
DAY 28 (Day 14 treatment 2) – 4th April 2014
My tummy feels really tense and painful today. It is also painfully swollen. I hope this is more die off as it is towards the end of the treatment now. I ordered more lufenuron in case I need another treatment, but in any case for my husband, so even though the instructions do not mention a 3rd treatment, I have decided to let fate decide, and if it arrives tomorrow it is a sign that I should take another course. However it does say in the tests that chimps showed a complete recovery in 3-4 months after treatment so I guess that means it will keep on working afterwards.
DAY 29 – 5th April 2014
I still have really bad swelling and pains with excess wind. Also I have had a headache all day which feels like it is more on my scalp than in my head, so it feels like an Indian Head Massage may ease it. Hopefully this is still die off being experienced in all different ways! As the treatment has finished now I will probably only post on here anything significant and in any case, I will update in a few weeks to a month to say whether more relief has been felt!
8th April 2014
I began taking Zell Oxygen Plus again on the 6th, its a preparation I take regularly for replenishment. I had stopped taking it during the treatment in case of interference, but I feel now that I want to start replenishing myself and getting myself back into balance. Since then (although I had not realised it was linked until now!) I have had a terrible headache and the aches have returned. I have also been really emotional like its all releasing. After feeling quite down about this, thinking it had all come back with a vengence, I realised that one of the properties of Zell is that it reduces candida! As I understand it, the effects of the lufenuron will last for a while as any new generations of candida will also be unable to produce chitin, so any repopulation that occurs will be easier (for a while) to kill. The action of the Zell obviously was not strong enough while I had the chronic infection with the biofilm, but now it is easily killing the defenceless candida! So now I feel a lot better about these symptoms!
11th April 2014 – The symptoms have lifted now.
19th April 2014
I still have the aches in my muscles and soreness in my legs, but I really fancy that they are easing. Fingers crossed it is not just my imagination! I have got back on the slippery slope of eating sugar, which I will be cutting out next week for good, due to actually being intolerant to it. I have felt a little tiredness and fatigue but I think it is down to the sugar consumption. I am also going to begin a small daily dose of Diatomaceous Earth for anti-parasitic and detox maintenance, and take some high quality probiotics again, the ones I take are Custom Probitotics CP-1, 2 per day.
It seems to me that the Lufenuron is great for rendering the candida defenceless, although despite Sarah Vaughter claiming that no special diet is required, I honestly think, due to the return of some of my symptoms recently, that it is important to include a sugar and wheat free diet in your plans after the 2 week treatment has passed. I also think it is good practice to have a natural anti-parasitic treatment such as diatomaceous earth (DE) as a maintenance and for getting rid of any that remain. Sarah Vaughter claims there is no need and that all natural anti-parasitic treatments are a waste of time, but I disagree due to my own experiences. I have combatted candida in the past with DE. I do not believe that anything is a panacea and a combination of complimentary products should be used. It is possible that if the body is otherwise very healthy that it could combat the defenceless candida itself and bring itself back into balance, but if the infection has been chronic and severe the body is bound to need help and replenishment.
I am happy to change my opinion above in light of new experiences but that is how I see it at the moment!
